Thanks for reaching out to the SHSU Library.   The "file missing: docs/suspend.htm" error message is displayed when a SHSU user downloads excessive amounts of material in a short space of time from the SHSU Library's electronic databases, journals, or eBooks.

There are restrictions, maintained by IT@Sam to prevent excessive or systematic downloading by bots or other automated mechanisms, protect intellectual property due in part to license agreements with publishers and vendors.

When you see this message, it means you have exceeded downloading the maximum allowed 200MB in 60 minutes restriction (most PDFs in our electronic databases or journals are about 2-4 MB each, which roughly averages around 75 articles being downloaded within an hour).

To avoid this temporary block, we suggest that you read the HTML version of the article (if available) as well as closely examine the abstract and introduction to ensure you do want to download the PDF full article, rather than just downloading all articles which might fit your search.

After 24 hours, IT@Sam will unblock your SamID and you should be download more articles and eBooks.  Please let me know if you continue to experience problems with SHSU Library online resources, or if you have any questions/concerns.

Sincerely,
