Users may encounter some issues with the Westlaw database. The following instructions may assist with troubleshooting these issues. Follow the instructions based on your browser:

Mozilla Firefox (versions 3.5 and higher)

Google Chrome (versions 34 and higher)

 

Mozilla Firefox (versions 3.5 and higher)

Modify Options to resolve printing/downloading issues.

  1. Click Open Menu (icon with 3 bars)and select Options.
  2. Click the Content Tab and check the box Block pop-up windows.
  3. Click Exceptions to the right of Block pop-up windows. 
  4. Type campus.westlaw.com under Address of web site.  Click Allow.              
  5. Type print.westlaw.com under Address of web site.  Click Allow.
  6. Type web2.westlaw.com under Address of web site.  Click Allow
  7. Type next.westlaw.com under Address of web site.  Click Allow.  Click Close.  Click Okay.

Clear Cache and remove Westlaw Cookies to resolve searching, slowness and sign-on issues.

  1. Click Open Menu (icon with 3 bars) and select History.
  2. Click clear your recent history and set Time range to clear: to Everything.
  3. Click Details and check cache.  Uncheck the other options.  Click Clear Now.
  4. Click Open Menu  and select Options.
  5. Click on the Privacy Tab, click on “remove individual cookies” and type Westlaw in the Search box.
  6. Select each of the Westlaw cookies then click Remove Cookie.  Click Close.  
  7. Under the Privacy Tab, next to Firefox Will:  select Use custom settings for history.
  8. Verify that Accept cookies from sites and Accept third-party cookies are checked.
  9. Click Exceptions then type westlaw.com under Address of web site.  Click Allow
  10. Type web2.westlaw.com under Address of web site.  Click Allow.
  11. Type next.westlaw.com under Address of web site.  Click Allow
  12. Click Close.  Click Okay.  Close all Firefox windows.

 

Google Chrome (versions 34 and higher)

Modify Internet Options to resolve printing/downloading issues.

  1. Click the Customize icon in the upper right corner then select Settings.
  2. Click Show advanced settings then click the Content settings … button in the Privacy section.              
  3. Scroll down to Pop-ups and click Manage exceptions.
  4. In the box located at the bottom of Hostname pattern column, type campus.westlaw.com.  Set Behavior to Allow.  Press Enter on key board.
  5. In the box located at the bottom of Hostname pattern column, type web2.westlaw.com.  Set Behavior to Allow.  Press Enter on key board.
  6. In the box located at the bottom of Hostname pattern column, type next.westlaw.com.  Set Behavior to Allow.  Press Enter on key board.
  7. In the box located at the bottom of Hostname pattern column, type westlaw.com.  Set Behavior to Allow.  Press Enter on key board.
  8. Click Done to close Pop-up exceptions.  Click Done to close Content settings.
  9. On the Settings page, scroll down to Downloads
  10. Check Ask where to save each file before downloading.
  11. Close all Google Chrome windows.

  1. Click the Customize icon in the upper right corner then select Settings.
  2. Click Show advanced settings then click the Clear browsing data button in the Privacy section.
  3. In the box next to Obliterate the following items from: select the beginning of time.
  4. Check Cached images and files and uncheck all the other boxes. 
  5. Click the Clear browsing data button.      
  6. Click the Content settings … button in the Privacy section.
  7. In the Cookies section verify that Allow local data to be set is checked.     
  8. Click the All cookies and site data… button.
  9. Type westlaw in the Search Cookies box then click Remove All.
  10. Click Done to close Cookies and site data window.  Click Done to close Content settings window.
  11. Close all Google Chrome windows.
